For decades Jimmy Taylor was Muirkirk's printer and publisher of Muirkirk's local paper, The Muirkirk Advertiser.
Jimmy's printed works were used for many busness and personal purposes in the village and even travelled the world in the form of such items as weddings invitations and Amateur Radio QSL cards.
But Jimmy's most enduring contributions to the village of Muirkirk are likely to be the record he kept of the contents of The Muirkirk Advertiser and his collections of photographs of Muirkirk's people and places.
Jimmy published the records of The Muirkirk Advertiser in a book "Cairntable Echoes". The pages of this book are now available as downloadable Adobe pdf files on the Ayrshire History website.
A range of Jimmy's photographic collection is also available on the Ayrshire History website, with pictures of both Muirkirk and Glenbuck.
