Engine 57566

British Railways 57566 was originally Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 No 828 and is one of the engines which can still be seen today on the Strathspey Railway as shown in the YouTube video below (video taken in 2000).

57566 was originally Caledonian Railway CR828 then LMS 17566 and was built at the LMS St Rollox Works in Glasgow on 31st August 1899. In 1948 this engine was based at Shed 67A Corkerhill and was finally withdrawn from service at Shed 67D Ardrossan on 31st August 1963.

The engine is preserved as Caledonian Railway CR 828.

Engine 44283

Locomotive 44283 was originally LMS 4283 and was built at the British Railway Derby Works on 31st December 1926. This engine was also based at Muirkirk/Hurlford Depot 67B. The engine was withdrawn from service on 31st July 1963 and scrapped on 29 February 1964 by McLellan's of Langloan.

Engine 44322

Of the same design as 44283, Locomotive 44322 was originally LMS 4322 and was built at the LMS St Rollox works in Glasgow. This engine was based at Muirkirk/Hurlford and was withdrawn from service on 30th July 1963, just shortly after the photograph was taken. The engine was scrapped on 31st March 1964 by Wards of Langloan.

One locomotive of this type, no. 44027, is preserved by the National Railway Museum..
